The Eta Aquarid Meteor shower is a little on the unusual side in that it doesn't really seem to have a peak like most of the other showers, instead having a slow ramp up to a 'busier time' around July 27th through the 30th.
This particular shower is not noted for eliciting big fireballs leaving long trails in the sky but rather 10-20 per hour of medium speed "faint zingers" as I call them. Unfortunately this year the moon is full during the peak days so it might be best to be aware of this shower in the days prior to the 27th where you can catch them before dawn without moonlight interference.
Or you could just forget about this one and look at Mars which will be looking about as good as it ever does these few days.!
